INTRODUCTION
Heritage and Horizons”. This is a short course aimed at students of Portuguese descent and Portuguese speakers who are applying for or enrolled in bachelor’s or master’s degrees at UTAD.
The first day of the programme, which includes a session in UTAD’s Aula Magna, comprises a series of presentations, namely ‘Portugal: what we were, what we are and what we will be’, by Diogo Feio, curator of the António Pragana Foundation; ‘Douro, heritage and humanity’, by Fontainhas Fernandes, president of the League of Friends of the Douro World Heritage Site; and ‘Portuguese Emigration – Memories in the Diaspora’, by Orquídea Ribeiro, lecturer at UTAD.
On the following days, 12 to 14 November, visits are planned to Quinta do Crasto, the Douro Museum and Mateus Palace, closing the event with a presentation on teaching and research at UTAD.
The main objective of the event is to promote training and research on Portuguese culture, history and language, as well as its relationship with the diaspora.
