Students of Portuguese descent from the University of Évora visit the Assembly of the Republic

18 February, 2026

The António Pargana Foundation organised a visit for students of Portuguese descent at the University of Évora, as part of the programme “Portugal, an unlikely country”.

As part of the programme ‘Portugal, an unlikely country’, developed by the António Pargana Foundation in partnership with the University of Évora, another training module took place today, this time with a visit to the Assembly of the Republic.

The initiative allowed students of Portuguese descent to deepen their knowledge of the functioning of one of the main organs of sovereignty of the Portuguese State. During the visit, participants learned more about the history, structure and relevance of the Assembly of the Republic in the context of the national democratic system.

The group was welcomed by Mr Alexandre Poço, who gave a presentation on the role of Parliament, clarified various questions raised by the students and promoted a moment of constructive dialogue on the legislative process and the importance of civic participation.

With this initiative, the António Pargana Foundation reinforces its commitment to the civic and academic education of students of Portuguese descent, promoting direct contact with democratic institutions and encouraging more informed and participatory citizenship.
