Within the scope of the programme “Law between Land, Sea, Sustainability and the Diaspora”, promoted by the António Pargana Foundation (FAP) in partnership with NOVA School of Law, a prize will be awarded through a competition to recognise the academic merit, creativity and capacity for critical reflection of the participants on the themes addressed in the programme.
In particular, the aim is to value reflections on the role of Law in building a more just, sustainable and supportive world, strengthening the links between Portugal, Portuguese-speaking countries and diaspora communities.
Who can apply?
Teams of five students enrolled in the Program, predominantly Lusodescendants and Portuguese-speaking, who have participated in at least three modules, are eligible to apply.
Each group must develop a final project linking one of the Program’s central themes with the diaspora, which may focus, among others, on Constitutional Law, Law of the Sea, Sustainability and Environmental Responsibility, Human Rights and Migrations, or Lusophone Communities.
How to submit an application?
Written submissions, with a maximum limit of 10 pages, must be sent by April 30, 2026 to the email address geral@fundacaoap.pt
Oral presentations will take place in May 2026, after the completion of all program modules, with each team having 10 minutes to present their work to the jury.
Evaluation criteria
The evaluation will consider criteria such as the relevance and timeliness of the topic, depth and coherence of analysis, legal rigor, creativity and originality of the approach, quality of examples used, and oral presentation.
The Prize
The António Pargana Foundation / NOVA School of Law Prize has a total value of 1,500 euros, to be awarded to the winning team, with the amount equally divided among the five members.
The jury may also award honorable mentions to other teams that stand out for the quality or originality of their submissions.
The prize may be presented at a public ceremony organized by the António Pargana Foundation and NOVA School of Law.
