A journey through Portuguese heritage reveals to young people of Portuguese descent the value of national tourism.

16 October, 2026

An experience of discovering Portuguese heritage, where culture, tradition, and tourism intersect to reveal the richness and diversity of the national identity.

Contemporary art, gastronomic tradition, and historical heritage were at the heart of an experience dedicated to the tourism sector, promoted by the António Pargana Foundation and ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics & Management, on October 15th, as part of the “Lusophone Global Immersion – Economy, Management & Innovation” program.

The initiative provided young people of Portuguese descent with a journey through some of Lisbon’s most emblematic spaces, allowing them to discover different dimensions of the national tourism offer and understand the importance of culture and heritage for the Portuguese economy.

The tour included a visit to MACAM – Armando Martins Museum of Contemporary Art, where participants had the opportunity to engage with contemporary art and learn about the role of cultural institutions in boosting tourism and valuing artistic heritage.

The experience also included a visit to Pastéis de Belém, one of the most recognized symbols of Portuguese gastronomic tradition. This moment highlighted how preserving a traditional product and its identity can contribute to the development of a benchmark brand and to the country’s tourist appeal.

The program also included a visit to the Jerónimos Monastery, one of the most emblematic monuments of Portuguese heritage, providing young people with close contact with national history and a cultural legacy of recognized international importance.

More than just a tour of some of Lisbon’s most emblematic places, this initiative was an opportunity to understand tourism as an engine of economic development, cultural enhancement, and international projection of Portugal.

Through this collaboration with ISEG, the António Pargana Foundation reinforces its commitment to promoting experiences that bring new generations of Portuguese descendants closer to Portuguese reality, contributing to the deepening of their knowledge and the strengthening of ties with the country of their origins.
